Project: E-government in an inter-administrative context (2002-2006) Although e-government offers new possibilities in the field of inter-administrative collaboration and integration, in practice this issue still raises numerous questions. The ‘e-government in an inter-administrative context’ research project focuses, on the one hand, on the sticking points that the inter-administrative relations impose on a project which is being conducted across several levels of government. On the other hand, it explores what consequences e-government has for the existing inter-administrative relations. E-government allows fundamental changes to be introduced in supervisory relations and allocations of tasks and competences, or can even give rise to new forms of administrative organisation that are no longer based on concepts such as hierarchy, territory, supervision and control. The research will be carried out on the basis of case studies. In the selection of the cases, attention will be paid expressly to practical cases in which information is an important ingredient, in which there is a high degree of fragmentation in information and public services, and in which actors of various levels of government are involved in the service providing processes.
